I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.

Matthew 25:40

OUR AIM

At Crossreach, our aim is to live out the mission of Jesus Christ by reaching out to as many needy people as possible in an effort to make their lives a little easier and to let them know that someone really cares. Jesus said, “Inasmuch as you do it for the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you did it also for me.” Matthew 25:40.

OUR HIstory

The ministry of Crossreach was begun over 20 years ago providing food to families who were in need. Originally, we met in the church kitchen and prepared meals which were then delivered to families around the island. Now, we prepare bags of food, which include nonperishable items like canned meats and vegetables, rice, pasta, cereal and sometimes hygiene items like soap and toothpaste.

OUR ministry

We typically prepare about 100 bags each month, at a cost of about $50/per bag, which are then distributed by volunteers to areas which are quite often neglected and destitute. We distribute food from McClean’s Town in the east to Eight Mile Rock in the western part of Grand Bahama. All of our workers are volunteers and all of our funding is donated by generous individuals.

In the wake of Hurricane Dorian, we received an unprecedented amount of food and supplies, so we were able to assist thousands of families in a short amount of time. Today, we are back to our original mandate of feeding the hungry in our community, and sometimes we are able to assist with other household needs.

How You can help

In addition to your financial support, if you are local, Crossreach needs your help staging, packaging and distributing food and other necessities to those most in need on Grand Bahama. Please join us by signing up for one shift or multiple shifts.  Any amount of time you can volunteer will help!

As part of our Crossreach ministry, we sometimes help people with projects they cannot manage themselves. This is a slide show of one of our Crossreach team members, Pastor Mervyn Henfield, heading up a project to cover an open septic tank near the home of one our our clients.
